The Exiles live at Boldon Colliery, Jan 2017
We’ve got a handful of gigs lined up for later in the year (full details here):
• Fri 11 Aug 2017, Carlisle Old Fire Station – Carlisle Refugee Action Group fundraiser with Censored and Partisan
• Sat 14 Oct 2017, Glasgow 13th Note – with Paul Carter and Performance Enhancing Suppositories
• Sat 11 Nov 2017, Carlisle Brickyard – with UK Subs and Fat Albert
We’re looking for more gigs, and we’re also busying ourselves with our second album. Recording is now finished and we’re set to return to Lovers Lane Studios in Dumfries to mix eleven new tracks very soon.
Also, cult thriller I Am Not A Serial Killer is now available on DVD, Blu-ray and On Demand in the UK. The film features our track Hollywood Lies, which is available on limited edition CD here.
Legendary German punk magazine Ox-Fanzine has reviewed The Exiles’ Universal Suffering, awarding our debut album a mighty 8/10 – the same score that high street glossies Vive Le Rock and Big Cheese magazine gave the album in their reviews earlier this year.
“Solid, classic punk rock. Such a richness, variety and consciousness of tradition we’ve heard lately only by Goldblade. Keep The Exiles on your radar…” – 8/10
– from ‘Universal Suffering’ review, Ox-Fanzine, Germany, April 2014
Since this review surfaced, orders for our album have again been pouring in, from Germany and beyond, so thanks to Ox-Fanzine’s Joachim Hiller for reviewing.
This month, The Exiles have played two of their best performances to date – supporting The Rezillos at Carlisle Brickyard (thanks to Pablo Komo Johnson for the pic, above) with Combo Zombo, and playing The Doll at the Black Bull in Gateshead with The Dugz and Razorblade Smile. Every band at these gigs was fantastic, as were the punters.
These gigs saw the addition of two new songs into our live set – Buzz Killer and Destroy The Daily Mail – and they’ve gone down amazingly well. We’re more than ready to play Rebellion Festival 2014 at Blackpool Winter Gardens on Thursday 7 August. You’ve never had it so punk!
We’re still looking for more gigs in the meantime (a few have fallen through, a few we’re waiting to hear back about) so please get in touch if you want to book us – we’re very reasonable, we don’t need no crusts cut off sarnies or nothing. We like crusts.
We’ve also filmed a promo vid for our cover version of The Harder They Come from our album – which we’ll edit as soon as the guy with the footage has enough data allowance to send us it all. Oh, the joys of poverty…
Premier Scottish new wavers The Rezillos plus The Exiles and a rare appearance by the legendary Combo Zombo, live at The Brickyard in Carlisle, Friday 11 April, from 8pm. Tickets £13 (no fees) direct from The Exiles – email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve yours. Tickets reserved from us must be paid for/collected before 6pm on the night of the gig.
The Exiles will debut at least two new songs – ‘Buzz Killer’ and ‘Destroy The Daily Mail‘.
See you down the front!
The Exiles play Rebellion Festival at Blackpool Winter Gardens on Thursday 7 August 2014 (stage/time tba).
Also playing Rebellion on the same day are Penrith’s premier punk rock posse No Thrills. It don’t get more cosy – or more Cumbrian – than that.
And luckily for you, Thursday is cheapest for one-day tickets, despite an awesome opening-day lineup this year. It’s already being called the best ever first-day lineup in Rebellion history. We’re proud to be part of it.
